KABALE. Hon. Enid Origumisiriza, the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament-elect, has called on Ugandans to prioritize regular cancer screening as a matter of urgency, disclosing government plans to decentralize oncology services through the establishment of regional cancer institutes across the country. Speaking at the burial service of the late Evas Bama at St. Andrewβs Buhumba Church of Uganda in Katenga Parish, Kamuganguzi Sub-County, Kabale District, which was presided over by Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Hon. Origumisiriza warned that βcancer continues to claim lives silently due to late detection,β and appealed to families to embrace routine medical checkups. Beyond health, she also charged parents with the responsibility of instilling discipline and moral values in their children, asserting that a firm foundation in childhood prevents waywardness in adulthood. The MP-elect extended her condolences to the bereaved family and commended the Diocese of Kigezi for its steadfast pastoral support to the community.
