CPA Dr. Protazio Begumisa is a seasoned professional with a distinguished academic and professional background. He began his education at St. Francis Primary School, Kyanamira, before joining St. Francis Secondary School and later Kabale Secondary School, where he completed his Uganda Certificate of Education (O-Level). He advanced to Kigezi High School for his Advanced Certificate of Education, laying a strong foundation for his higher studies.
From 1989 to 1992, Dr. Begumisa pursued a Bachelor of Commerce at Makerere University. He went on to acquire global professional qualifications including ACCA (UK) and CPA (Uganda). To strengthen his leadership and management skills, he undertook leadership training at Strathmore Business School (Kenya) and Balanced Scorecard training at George Washington University (USA).
His professional influence has been equally outstanding. Dr. Begumisa has served as a Council Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and rose to the position of Vice President and later the 7th President ICPAU contributing significantly to the growth of the accountancy profession in Uganda.
In his career, he has held key positions across leading institutions. He began at Uganda Airlines Corporation as Deputy Chief Accountant in 1999, before moving to Uganda Breweries Limited where he served as Commercial Manager. His longest tenure was at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), where he served diligently for 21 years and rose to the rank of Commissioner, and as Tax Director at Kreston HM.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Dr. Begumisa has contributed to national governance and enterprise development as a Board Member. He has served on the boards of the Capital Markets Authority, Psalms Food Industries Ltd, and Career Institute Ltd, as well as a former Board Member of the Uganda AIDS Commission.
