Hon. Enid Origumisiriza Urges Parents to Teach Children their local languages and Calls on Government to Support Wetland Evictees.

KABALE DISTRICT. The Woman Member of Parliament for Kabale District, Hon. Enid Origumisiriza, yesterday attended the baptism reception of Abaho Jethro James Ndyabahika at the Ndyabahika home in Kikungiri, Kabale municipality.

Addressing parents and guests at the reception, Hon. Enid encouraged parents to teach children their home language, particularly Rukiga for Kabale parents. She noted that preserving local languages is key to maintaining cultural identity, discipline, and strong family values in the district.

The Woman MP also emphasized her recent maiden speech in Parliament, where she urged government to look for options for the people of Kabale who are to be evicted from the wetlands. She stressed that while environmental conservation is necessary, government should provide alternative livelihood solutions to support the affected families.

The reception was graced by several dignitaries including Kabale District RDC Major (Rtd) Godfrey Katamba, All Saints Church Archdeacon Rev. Can. Emmanuel Namanya Bwagye, Rev Timothy Niwamanya, Rev Akankwasa Emmanuel and several other church and government leaders who joined the Ndyabahika family to celebrate and welcome Abaho Jethro into the family of Christ.

Hon. Enid commended the family for the Christian foundation and called upon leaders to continue supporting initiatives that promote faith, culture, and sustainable development in Kabale.
